We are delighted to welcome Pr. Xavier de Lamballerie  (Unité des Virus Emergents UMR IRD 190 ‐ Inserm 1207 ‐ AMU, and Centre National de reference Arbovirus, IHU MI, Marseille) who will be presenting a seminar entitled:

Arbovirus genomics: time for a rebellion

Pr. Xavier de Lamballerie, director of the Emerging Viruses Unit (UVE), is a specialist of arboviruses (Yellow fever, Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika, West Nile, Japanese encephalitis, tick-borne encephalitis). Xavier de Lamballerie is Professor of Virology at Marseille University and a member of the Comité de Veille et d’Anticipation des Risques Sanitaires (COVARS). 

Based at the IHU Mediterranean Infection in Marseille, Xavier de Lamballerie's team has published numerous studies on emerging viruses. In particular starting from July 2020 they conducted a study published in Nature concluding the inefficacy of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of Covid-19 in macaques.

He coordinates the network arbo-france and a European collection of viruses providing the international scientific and medical community with reference products for research and diagnosis during health crises caused by viruses.
